Daniel Adam Maltz is a \;fortepianist based in Vienna\, Austria.
He specializes in \;Wiener Klassik (Viennese Classicism) &mdash\; especially the works of Haydn\, Mozart\, and Beethoven &mdash\; performed on the Viennese fortepianos of their time.
Called &ldquo\;master of the Viennese fortepiano\,&rdquo\; Daniel&rsquo\;s performances are praised for their &ldquo\;extraordinary precision and lightness&rdquo\; (The Common Reader). Critics applaud his &ldquo\;very sensitive phrasing&rdquo\; and &ldquo\;marvelous dynamic contrasts&rdquo\; (Marblehead Current) featuring &ldquo\;broad warmth&rdquo\; and &ldquo\;lavish but tasteful&rdquo\; playing (Classical Sonoma).
He debuted at Carnegie Hall (Weill) at age 22 and is a sought-after soloist\, Lieder accompanist\, and clinician. Daniel is devoted to performing on Viennese fortepianos &mdash\; utilizing the vast range of tones and colors familiar to the composers.
He brings his expertise in the Viennese sound\, culture\, philosophies\, and performance practices of the Classical era to his interpretations. Daniel studied fortepiano performance at the Universitä\;t fü\;r Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna and the Royal Academy of Music in London. He refined his command of historical practices through private study with Andreas Staier and Ingomar Rainer.
